2 Week Old Lincoln

How the heck is our 2nd baby already 2 weeks old!!! (ok now almost 3 weeks since it took me 4 days to write this post)

We had his check up on Friday and looks like we have another happy, healthy baby on our hands.

At 2 Weeks Old, Lincoln you:
- Weigh 6lb, 13oz (back at birthweight)
- Measure 20.75" long
- Wear Newborn size clothes and diapers (some newborn stuff is still too big for you!)
- Are pretty good sleeper and eater for a 2 week old (you have a 5 hr stretch almost every night)
- Love to cuddle and we love every minute of this time with you!

Your big brother loves and cares for you almost as much as Mommy &  Daddy!! He always kisses you and is very sad and worried for you when you cry.  You are going to have a really great time together when you get a little bigger!

37 Weeks

We're almost there!  January 13th, 2012 we will get to meet our little guy as we have a scheduled C section.  Since I've been bad about belly pics lately, here are are a few.

With Jackson @ 36 Weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 37 Weeks

Size of baby: 19-20" in length, about 6lbs

Total Weight Gain: 30 pounds

What I miss:  being able to move normally, workout and get off the couch easily

Symptoms: some heartburn, a little swelling at the end of the day.

Best Moment this week: Jackson has REALLY gotten interested in my belly and all the baby things around the house.  He is now calling "baby" by his name :)

Lincoln U/S Pics

I wanted to share some more recent Ultrasound pictures from Lincoln at our last visit.  I know a lot of people can't tell from these pics what is what, but some of you can and I know want to see them...so...here they are!

First pic on top is of the bottom side of his BIG foot!
Second is of his LONG leg :)

Here are 2 profile pictures of his face (his chin lips towards left, and top of head towards right)

He is growing big and is very healthy and active.  Lincoln has had from the very first ultrasound a calcium deposit spot on his heart (echogenic intracardiac focus).  Luckily, this is thought to represent mineralization, or small deposits of calcium, in the muscle of the heart. EIFs are found in about 3-5% of normal pregnancies and cause no health problems. EIFs themselves have no impact on health or heart function. Since he has no other abnormalties or chromosomal variations etc he is just a healthy boy with a little dot of calcium on his heart :)  Boy were we happy to hear that!

32 Weeks

Time is FLYING by and Lincoln will most likely be here in less than 7 weeks via C-section.  I better hurry up and get the to-do list finished!!  This pregnancy has been very different. I have gained WAY less weight with Lincoln and he was breech until this week so I've been carrying him much differently.  I actually have a picture of my belly with Jackson at this point exactly so another side by side is below.

Me with Jackson                                                                                       Me with Lincoln

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 32 Weeks

Size of baby: 16.7 inches long and weighs about 3.75 pounds on average.  Lincoln measured about 4.5 lbs this last week via ultrasound

Total Weight Gain: 22 pounds

Movement: Constant.  he is a very strong kiddo.  He makes very large and intense movements that you can see from across the room!

Sleep: Sleep great most of the time (thank goodness!) Just have to get up for a potty break around 3AM

What I miss:  Walking normally, being able to paint my toes and just in general not being so tired!

Cravings: None really.  I really am not very hungry right now and pretty much have to be reminded to eat.

Symptoms: heartburn (just started this week), a little swelling at the end of the day.

Best Moment this week: Got to see Lincoln via ultrasound again and he turned! Way more comfortable now that he isn't breech.

Lincoln's "Custom" Crib Sheet

Lincoln's room is definitely a lot more custom and has a lot more true handmade pieces.   (Sorry Jack!)  One thing I've been talking about and wanting to do for MONTHS is make him crib sheets out of designer fabric that I liked, not just had to settle for from the baby stores.

Here is the first fabric I wanted to use

I followed this tutorial to some degree.  I did a little more finishing on the inside seams but pretty close.  I love Prudent Baby for all things sewing!  Here is a pic of how the sheets turned out....I will post more ROOM pics soon but its not quite finished so I'm going to keep giving you piece by piece!

 Whatcha think?!

29 Weeks

This Pregnancy:
Jackson's Pregnancy:

They are definitely carrying VERY differently. I have also gained only HALF the amount of weight thus far that I did with Jackson!  Jackson carried high and was always balled up.  Lincoln is breech and doesn't seem to stick out as far.

Pregnancy Highlights

How Far Along: 29 Weeks

Size of baby: A little over 15 inches and 2.5 pounds (size of a butternut squash)

 Total Weight Gain:
19 lbs

Maternity Clothes: Yes, but all my maternity clothes from Jackson are too big, so luckily have had some great gal pals lend me some smaller stuff! Great to be able to say that at week 29!

Gender: It's a Boy. Lincoln MacGregor

Movement: When is he NOT moving! He is a crazy wild man though at about 8PM-midnight

Sleep: surprisingly great, except for the sometimes interrupted sleep from charlie horses!

What I miss:  being able to paint my toes (or see them), really being able to work out hard, and a glass of wine!

Cravings: None really.  Not as hungry lately, surprisingly. However, when I DO want something, I WANT it!

Symptoms: Still issues with my sciatic nerve, a lot of lower discomfort (cause the boy is still breech).

Best Moment this week: Making a lot of progress on Lincoln's nursery.  Pics to come of course!

*** Feeling pretty good and very nervous and anxious that the little guy will be here before we know it.  If we have a C Section, he'll be here in 10 weeks!!!!***

10.06.2011

25 weeks

Pregnancy Highlights:

How Far Along: 25 Weeks

Size of baby: 13.5 inches long and 1.5 pounds (weight of an average rutabaga)

Total Weight Gain: 15 lbs, yeah...not having trouble gaining weight now

Maternity Clothes: no choice now...look at the belly!

Gender: It's a boy! Lincoln MacGregor

Movement: Lincoln likes to move...but I think he is much lower than Jackson was!  He like to show off his big moves for Daddy in the evening.

Sleep:  So. So.  I wake up around 3 or 3:30AM and toss for a while, sometimes a long while.

What I miss: My regular clothes, being able to move like I used to

Cravings: ice cream

Best Moment of the Week:  Jackson trying to spoon 'feed' Lincoln in my belly.  Very cute moment.

Fabric Tree DIY Tutorial

I was walking through Hobby Lobby and saw this styrofoam cone form and had an "ah ha" moment.  I got a pretty large one, but there are much smaller ones too that I may go back for later :)

I've seen pom pom, coffee beans, candy decorated ones etc for Christmas and decided I'd try doing something with layered fabric instead.  I love how it turned out for his "Modern Nature" baby room.

Materials:
Styrofoam Cone
Fabric (I think I used about 1/2 yard since I got such a tall tree)
Glue Sticks/Gun
Rotary Cutter/Mat OR Pinking Shears

First step was to cut fabric squares with my Rotary Cutter and Mat.  I made my squares 2"x2".  If you don't have a rotary cutter and mat you can just use pinking shears.

Next fold the 2"x2" square in half
Then in half again (excuse the lack of manicure on his mama)
Then I put a dot of hot glue (be careful!) in the corner of the last fold so that it'll stay folded for you.

Then you just place each "triangle" on the cone with glue.  I worked my way down the cone and I turned the triangles different angles to they would all lay just a little differently.

up close picture of the pinking edges

This project is something very easy to do while watching TV however it takes a little while just because its a little tedious.  I think I used 250+squares on this large tree.  I will be trying a smaller tree soon to go with this large one.  I'm going to do the next one with some patterned fabric instead :)

Here it is now in its new home in Lincoln's baby room:

And for a sneak peek, yet again, here are some fabrics that are soon to make their way into his room:

Sneak Peek at Lincoln's Room

Here are just a few pics of Lincoln's Room in progress:
Lincoln's door to his room that I put letter decals on! Jackson also has this on his door to his new room as well.

Here is a find from my DC days.  It is an old white washed window turned mirror :)  Love how it looks in his room and loved reusing this in a completely new way in Lincoln's baby room.
This project was a wooden "L" I picked up at Hobby Lobby that I covered with green moss!  I loved how it turned out.

Here are a couple strands of mini burlap flags/bunting that I got at this awesome Etsy shop.  One of my favorite songs when thinking about my current and future baby is "Baby Mine" from Dumbo that you can listen to here.  I thought it was really fitting so I had her custom make this.

Here is just one of the 3 rustic stars I'll have in the room as well as this drift wood vase I picked up.

I have a few more fun things to share with you as I get some more things put together but I thought this was a good sneak peek!
